Business Profile Control

On Google Maps and in Google Search there is a record of your business: name, address, phone, opening hours, and the website people get sent to — and assistants answering local questions can draw on it too. Many owners have never checked who actually controls it. A former agency still holds primary ownership, an ex-employee is still a manager, a stranger has claimed it — or the data has quietly drifted, because Google edits listings from user suggestions and third-party sources. This service works the record back toward your control: an audit with evidence, ownership and access cleaned up, the official recovery process where access is lost, and a monthly watch on what changes. You stay owner. We work as manager — access you can revoke at any time, and that is by design.

Deliverables

  • Listing audit across four dimensions — control, identity, consistency, reach. Every finding is evidence-backed: a timestamped screenshot and a way to check it yourself; nothing is scored, nothing is vague.
  • Website cross-check — the listing held against your site and its LocalBusiness markup: name, address, phone and hours as one consistent record across your listing, your website and its markup.
  • Ownership and access cleanup — former agencies and ex-employees removed, primary ownership with you, a second owner as fallback, two-factor authentication on the accounts that hold the profile.
  • Recovery support where access is lost — the official ownership request filed with a documented evidence file, verification prepared and rehearsed. You verify; we guide. Whether Google grants it stays Google’s decision.
  • Bing Places and Apple Business Connect checked where available in your market — the same facts at the other public sources search engines and assistants can draw local data from.
  • Monthly Watch report (optional) — the listing’s public fields read once a month and held against the previous reading: what differs, the old and new value, and the two dates the change sits between. “Nothing changed since the last reading” is a result, and the report says so.

Business Profile Control FAQ

Someone else controls our listing. Can you get it back?

We run the official route, and we sell the process — not the outcome. Google notifies the current holder of an ownership request and gives them a few days to respond (three, per Google’s documentation as of August 2026). If they do not respond, a claim step can open; a rejection leaves an appeal. We file the request with a documented evidence file, prepare the verification, and clean up access once you are in. Whether Google grants the transfer is Google’s decision — we say that up front instead of selling you a transfer that is not ours to grant.

A Business Profile is free. What am I paying for?

The profile is free, and so is every Google process around it — the ownership request, the verification, all of it. You could run this yourself, and this page tells you how it works so you can. What you pay for is our work: the audit and its evidence, the ownership and access cleanup, preparing and guiding the official process, and the monthly comparison. We are not affiliated with Google and we resell nothing Google gives away. Google publishes its own note on working with third parties at support.google.com/business/answer/7163406 — worth reading before you hire anyone for this, us included.

Do you need our Google password?

No — never, and refuse anyone who asks for it. You stay owner of the profile; we work with a manager role you grant and can revoke at any time. Verification codes and identity documents stay with you: during screen-share sessions we pause the share for every identity step.

Who performs the verification?

You do, guided by us. Google decides which method a business is offered — video of the premises, a call, sometimes mail — and several of them are physically tied to your location — which is why we do not offer to take verification off your hands. We prepare the paperwork, rehearse the video walk-through, and are on the call while you do it.

What does the monthly retainer actually watch?

Watch reads the listing’s public fields once a month — website link, phone, name, address and pin, the category Google shows publicly, hours, profile status, review count and rating — and holds that reading against the previous one: what differs, the old and new value, and the two dates the change sits between. Be clear on what that method proves and what it does not: it shows that a field changed between two readings — not the minute it happened, and not which account did it. Google publishes neither, so we do not claim them. Listings drift without an attacker: Google renames categories, applies user-suggested edits, and a user report can put a business into the “permanently closed” state through Google’s own suggested-edit mechanism. Care adds capped upkeep on top: images and data changes each month, holiday hours proactively, and review-reply drafts. Drafts are what they say: we write them, you read them, and nothing is published to your profile until you approve it — every reply, not just the difficult ones.

Can you get us to the top of Google Maps?

No — and Google documents that better local ranking cannot be bought or requested. Local results weigh relevance, distance and prominence, and distance alone is outside anyone’s control. What we work on is the record itself: who has access to it, and whether it is correct, complete, and consistent with your website. That is the mechanism we sell — the position is Google’s.

We have more than one location. Does this scale?

Yes — the checks are identical per location, so multi-location runs are largely scripted with manual follow-up on the findings. You get an exact scope and figure for your location count in writing. Franchise systems and chains where nobody knows which account holds which listing are the textbook case. From around fifty locations it becomes a custom engagement with its own scope.
