Shopify QA Review

Customers report errors you cannot reproduce. A discount that works in the cart and dies at checkout. A store that quietly took no orders for a day before anyone noticed. Most Shopify stores are tested by their customers — this service does it first. We walk your store’s real buying journeys the way a customer does — search, variants, cart, discounts, shipping, checkout — on real desktop and mobile hardware, and document every confirmed issue with reproduction steps, evidence and a severity that says what to fix first. Functional QA only: no conversion opinions, no SEO upsell, no redesign pitch.

Deliverables

  • Three agreed customer journeys, tested end to end — typically a standard purchase, a variant-plus-discount path, and one edge case (a second market, a second language, or out-of-stock behavior) — across up to five representative products.
  • Real hardware, not emulator screenshots — desktop plus mobile in two agreed browser families, including Safari on a real iPhone: the environment where most checkout surprises live and most store owners cannot test themselves.
  • A findings register, not a feeling — every confirmed issue with severity, affected URL, reproduction steps, expected versus actual behavior, and screenshot evidence. Nothing you cannot verify yourself.
  • Four-level severity (Critical / High / Medium / Low) and a priority order — fix first, fix next, monitor. No manufactured criticals, no fear mechanics: a finding we cannot reproduce is not reported as one.
  • A coverage record — exactly which products, journeys, devices, browsers and markets were tested. What a review this size deliberately does not cover is written down, not glossed over.
  • A 30-minute walkthrough call — findings, priorities, and every open question answered.
  • One verification retest included — confirmed Critical and High findings re-tested after your fix, within 30 days of the report: FIXED, NOT FIXED, or PARTIALLY FIXED, each with fresh evidence.

Process

01 — INTAKE

Scope & Access

One short call: your main market, the products that matter, the three journeys we agree on, and what a safe test order looks like in your store.

02 — PLAN

Test Matrix

Journeys × devices × browsers, written down before testing starts. You see what will be covered — and what deliberately will not.

03 — TEST

Manual Journeys

Each journey walked like a customer — search, variants, cart, discounts, shipping, checkout to the payment step, plus a controlled test order where your store allows it safely.

04 — DOCUMENT

Evidence & Severity

Every issue reproduced before it is written down: steps, expected versus actual, screenshot, severity. Surprising results are re-run, not reported on first sight.

05 — DELIVER

Report, Call, Retest

Findings register and priority order handed over and walked through live. You fix what matters — Critical and High findings get one verification retest within 30 days.

Shopify QA Review FAQ

How is this different from the Website Audit?

The Website Audit is a diagnostic across performance, technical SEO, conversion, accessibility and AI visibility — it tells you how healthy the site is. The QA Review answers a narrower, harder question: does your store actually work when a customer tries to buy? We verify buying journeys by walking them, and every failure is reproduced before it is reported. Different job, different evidence — the audit lives at /services/website-audits/ .

Do you fix the issues you find?

No — and that is deliberate. A reviewer who profits from the fixes has an incentive to find expensive problems. You get findings anyone can act on: your developer, your agency, or us in a separately scoped engagement. Your review fee credits in full toward any build we start within 60 days.

What exactly does the fixed price cover?

One storefront, up to five representative products, three agreed customer journeys, desktop and mobile in two agreed browser families, one controlled test order where your store allows it safely, and one verification retest of Critical and High findings within 30 days. Materially more than that — full multi-market matrices, app integration testing, every product and variant — is a custom scope, and we say so at intake, not after.

What do you deliberately not test?

Theme code, app code and APIs, performance, SEO, accessibility, analytics implementations, legal and tax compliance, and full regression across every product and browser. Some of that has its own service — the Website Audit covers performance, SEO and accessibility. The rest we name out loud, so you know exactly what a pass here does and does not prove.

Which devices and browsers do you actually test on?

Real hardware: desktop plus mobile, including Safari on a real iPhone — where most checkout surprises live and most store owners cannot test themselves. The exact two browser families are agreed at intake and written into the report, so the coverage claim is checkable, not decorative.

What do I need to provide?

Your store URL, your main selling market, any discount codes we should test, and a decision on the test order — a safe way to place one, or the explicit call to skip it. Product selection can be yours or ours, agreed at intake. No password, no admin access, no app installs: the review works from the storefront your customers see.

Can I run a first check myself, for free?

Yes — and we recommend it. The free Shopify Health Check at /systems/shopify-health-check/ walks you through 20 checks on one representative journey, in your browser, no login and nothing uploaded. It uses the same method as this review; the review adds coverage, real-device breadth, reproduction evidence and independent judgement.
